DAY 2 - REFOCUS
REFOCUS
Scripture:
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” Isaiah 30:21
One of the greatest battles of our generation isn’t temptation - it’s distraction.
We are surrounded by noise. Notifications never stop. Opinions are everywhere. Pressure is constant. And without realizing it, our attention gets fragmented. We’re busy, informed, and connected—but often spiritually unfocused.
Fasting has a way of exposing what has captured our attention. Refocus isn’t about God suddenly speaking louder. It’s about us finally getting quiet enough to listen. When Focus Is Divided, Direction Gets Blurred
God promises that His voice will guide us, “This is the way; walk in it.” But notice the assumption in the verse: we are close enough, attentive enough, and surrendered enough to hear Him. Many people struggle with clarity not because God is silent, but because their lives are crowded. Crowded schedules. Crowded minds. Crowded hearts.
We ask God for direction while holding onto distractions that dull our discernment. We want clarity, but we won’t create margin. We want answers, but we won’t slow down long enough to listen.
Refocus begins with honesty:
Whatever has your focus has your formation. Fasting Refines Our Focus. Fasting removes something familiar to reveal something eternal. When we fast, we intentionally turn down the volume on what normally dominates us - food, media, routines, comforts - so that our hunger for God becomes louder than our hunger for everything else. Refocus isn’t accidental. It’s intentional. It’s choosing prayer over panic. Presence over productivity. Obedience over urgency. As distractions fade, discernment sharpens. As noise quiets, God’s voice becomes clearer - not because He’s moved closer, but because we have.
Isaiah doesn’t say, “You’ll hear a voice telling you why.” He says, “This is the way; walk in it.”
God often gives direction one step at a time. Refocus teaches us to trust God without needing the full map. When our devotion is steady, direction becomes clearer. We don’t refocus to get control. We refocus to surrender control. And in that surrender, God aligns our steps with His will.
Prayer
God, refocus my heart and mind. Silence the noise around me and within me. Show me what has taken too much of my attention. Help me hear Your voice clearly and trust Your leading completely. I want to walk in Your way - not rush ahead of You or lag behind You.
Amen.

Refocus begins with honesty:
- What has my attention right now?
- What am I giving my best energy to?
- What am I constantly checking, thinking about, or worrying over?
