Rest Isn't Laziness
Rest Isn't Laziness
Isaiah 40:28–31
“They who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength…”
We often think rest is a reward for hustle, but in Scripture, it's the source of strength. Rest isn’t checking out—it’s tuning in. In fact, it takes spiritual maturity to pause without guilt. It’s not laziness when your resting is from a place of trust and renewal.
You weren’t created to run on empty. God is not glorified by burnout. He's glorified when you know when to stop—and trust Him in the stillness.
Reflection: Where are you mistaking overworking for faithfulness? Ask God to renew your strength today, not through striving, but through surrender.

For years, I often mistook overworking in ministry as a sign of God’s glory or blessing. I had boundaries in my personal life, but when it came to ministry, I felt like I had to work, work, work—constantly pouring out while tearing myself apart. I did it all in the name of the Lord. But now I know that even when you’re serving in His name, God still calls you to rest. And that is something I’m truly embracing in this season of my journey.
