WAKE UP

Most of us know what it feels like to wake up physically but still be half-asleep mentally. The alarm goes off, we roll out of bed, maybe even start moving through the motions of our day, but our mind and heart haven’t fully caught up. Spiritually, the same thing can happen. We can believe in Jesus, go to church, even serve, but still live like we’re half-asleep.

The Bible puts it this way:

“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” (Ephesians 5:14)

Paul isn’t talking about hitting snooze on an alarm clock. He’s calling us to wake up spiritually....to stop drifting through life distracted. To not allow disappointments and deception stop us in our daily lives. He doesn't want us to become deadened by sin, and instead be fully alive in Jesus.

We live in a world filled with constant scrolling, endless content, and pressure to perform. It’s easy to drift through our days without being awake to what God is actually doing right in front of us. But Jesus didn’t save us so we could sleepwalk through life. He came to wake us up — to joy, to purpose, to mission.

Here’s the good news: you don’t have to stay stuck. Every morning, you have a choice. Will you wake up to God’s presence, or hit snooze on what He wants to do in and through you?

How to Wake Up Spiritually:
  • Start your day with God. Even 5 minutes of prayer shifts your focus.
  • Look for God in the ordinary. He’s in conversations, opportunities, and interruptions.
  • Live on mission. Ask: “Who can I encourage today? Who can I point to Jesus?”

Jesus is calling you to live wide awake, not just going through the motions. Filled with His wonder and purpose.

Today, wake up. The world needs you alert, alive, and shining with the light of Christ.
