FILLED WITH WONDER
When was the last time you stood in absolute awe of God? In a world full of noise, distractions, and routines, it’s easy to lose our sense of wonder. But in Acts 3, after Peter and John healed the man at the Beautiful Gate, Scripture says the people were “filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened” (Acts 3:10). That moment reminds us of what it looks like when God breaks into the ordinary with His extraordinary power.
Let’s look at what this wonder really means for us:
1. Wonder is God’s Power
The man who was healed had been crippled since birth. No program, no therapy, no money could fix his condition. Yet in a single moment, through the power of Jesus’ name, his whole life was changed. Wonder reminds us that God can do what no one else can do. His power isn’t just history...it’s alive and active today. Every healing, every life changed, every breakthrough is a testimony that we serve a powerful God.
2. Wonder Causes Us to Worship
When the man was healed, he didn’t just walk, he leapt, shouted, and praised God. Wonder naturally leads us to worship. True worship isn’t manufactured; it overflows when we realize what God has done. Sometimes we get so used to our blessings that we forget to be amazed by them. But when you see God’s hand at work, worship becomes your automatic response.
3. Wonder Points People to Jesus
The crowd gathered, not just because of the miracle, but because they wanted to know who was behind it. Peter wasted no time...he pointed them straight to Jesus. That’s the heart of wonder: it’s never about us, it’s always about Him. Our lives, our testimonies, our creativity, and our boldness should all point people to Jesus. When people see God at work in us, they should walk away saying, “Only Jesus could do that.” We have a phrase we say around red..."ONLY GOD."
