SCRIPTURE JOURNALING AND SOAP METHOD

SOAP is an acronym that stands for SCRIPTURE, OBSERVATION, APPLICATION and PRAYER. It's a simple method that helps you take one key verse and study that particular scripture.

Reading and understanding the word of God is an important part of our faith journey. Romans 10:17 says "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Our faith is built when we read His word.

Below is a list of Chapters we will be reading together over the course of our church planting journey. We created one to help you start your journey.

SCRIPTURE - EPHESIANS 1:15
"For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God's people,"

OBSERVATION
Paul is writing to the church of Ephesus and he begins to thank them at the end of the 1st Chapter. He takes not of two particulars in this scripture. Both their Faith in Jesus and their loves for all people.

APPLICATION
What a beautiful picture of what all church communities should look like. May we build a place and be known for our Faith in Jesus and our Love for all people. Put people in my path this week that I can encourage to both believe and love!

PRAYER
Father, thank you for your word. It's a light unto my path. Today, I pray that we apply this scripture to our life. Let us be a place of belief and faith in you, but also give us a deep desire to LOVE YOUR PEOPLE. Give us a love that transcends our own emotional capacities, that comes from only you. Give us a love that transcends political differences. Let us be known for our LOVE. AMEN.
